Recent posts on social media have linked a violent attack on a financial institution in Brazil with FINCA Haiti S.A., a microfinance institution serving micro-entrepreneurs in the country. FINCA Haiti would like to clarify that no attack took place on its offices located in Pétion-Ville or elsewhere on the national territory.
Our security experts traced the source of the video to an incident that took place on June 20, 2022 in São Mateus do Maranhão, Brazil. We encourage the public to use online counter-verification (fact checking) tools to verify any information received before sharing it on social media.
